Oriol Cardona and Irati Idiakez, World Champions
Two new world champions:
- Irati Idiakez, world champion in snowboard cross in Canada, at the World Championships held in Big White, Canada. This marks her third world title.
- Oriol Cardona wins a new world championship title in the Sprint ski mountaineering event in Morgins, securing another Olympic spot for Spain.

Spanish athlete Irati Idiakez was crowned world champion in snowboard cross at the 2025 Para Snowboard World Championships, held at the Big White ski resort in Canada.
Irati competes in the UL category for athletes with disabilities in one or both arms, finishing an outstanding championship where she also won the silver medal in banked slalom.
The victory took place on the night of Sunday, March 9, in a snowboard cross event where she faced strong rivals such as Poland’s Monica Kotzian and Anna Drobna.
The Spanish athlete recorded the second-best time in the qualifying round and, in the final, she edged out Kotzian in a close finish to claim the world championship title.
Oriol Cardona, World Champion in Sprint Ski Mountaineering
Oriol Cardona has won a new world championship title in the Sprint ski mountaineering event.
This gold medal also grants him a spot in the 2026 Milan-Cortina d’Ampezzo Olympic Games.
Cardona was the fastest in the first round, competing against 91 skiers.
He set a time of 02:45.40.
Oriol was the fastest among the six skiers in his heat (02:44.2) to advance to the semifinals.
In the final, Cardona dominated from the start.
He took the lead and reached the first transition with an advantage.
He secured first place with a time of 02:42.4.
